Nevada WIC Food List

Nevada WIC food benefits are loaded onto an eWIC card accepted at WIC-authorized grocery stores across the state. Your specific monthly food package is tailored to your participant category (pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum, infant, or child) and nutritional needs, determined at your certification appointment. Use the free WIC Shopper app to check product eligibility and your benefit balance before shopping.

Food Categories

  • Dairy: Milk (whole, reduced fat, low fat, fat free; lactose-free varieties available), cheese, and yogurt. Plant-based milk alternatives โ€” including soy beverage โ€” are available as a milk substitute for eligible participants.
  • Tofu: Calcium-set tofu is available as a protein alternative for eligible participants.
  • Eggs: Any color from domestic hens, whole or liquid pasteurized.
  • Whole grains: Iron-fortified hot and cold cereals, whole grain bread, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, tortillas, and other whole grain options following the 2024 USDA food package update.
  • Fruits and vegetables: A monthly cash value benefit (CVB) โ€” the amount shown on your benefit card โ€” for fresh, frozen, and canned produce without added sugars, including fresh herbs.
  • Legumes: Dried and canned beans and peas. Mature legumes only.
  • Peanut butter: Creamy or chunky, any brand, regular or reduced fat.
  • Canned fish: Available in food packages for women (pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum) and children age 2 and older. Nevada's approved fish list includes tuna, sardines, jack mackerel, and salmon.
  • Juice: 100% fruit or vegetable juice, vitamin C-rich, unsweetened only.
  • Infant foods: Iron-fortified infant cereal, jarred baby food (fruits, vegetables, and meats), and WIC-approved infant formula. Nevada WIC's contract formula is Similac brand (Abbott Nutrition). Non-contract standard and intolerance formulas from other manufacturers are generally not available unless a qualifying medical diagnosis is documented via a Nevada WIC Medical Documentation form. Special medical formulas require physician documentation submitted to your WIC clinic.

WIC Shopper App

Download the free WIC Shopper app from the App Store or Google Play. Use it to scan product barcodes in the store aisle, check your current benefit balance, find authorized store locations, and receive program alerts including benefit expiration notifications.

Nevada WIC Shopping and Home Delivery

Through a shopping and delivery program developed during COVID-19, some Nevada WIC community partner organizations shop for WIC-approved items on behalf of enrolled families and deliver them to the home or a location of the family's choosing. Availability varies by area as CARES Act funding has ended โ€” contact your local WIC clinic to find out whether this service is currently offered in your area.
