Who WIC Serves in Louisiana

WIC is open to women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum, along with infants and children up to their 5th birthday. Fathers, foster parents, grandparents, and other caregivers can apply on a child's behalf. A household needs to meet income guidelines and show a nutrition-related risk — such as being pregnant, anemic, or underweight — which WIC staff can confirm at your appointment.

What Your Benefits Include

Approved participants receive monthly food benefits loaded onto an eWIC card, covering items like milk, eggs, whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and infant formula, redeemable at authorized grocery stores statewide. Louisiana WIC also offers breastfeeding support, nutrition education, and referrals to programs like Medicaid and SNAP. Staying Enrolled

Benefits are added to your card at WIC appointments rather than loading automatically, so keeping your certification current matters.
