Delaware WIC food benefits are loaded monthly onto an eWIC card, redeemable at authorized grocery stores statewide. Your card carries a personalized food prescription — the point-of-sale system at checkout determines exactly what's eligible, so you don't need to sort it out yourself in the aisle. The full current Delaware WIC Authorized Food List is available in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole, and the free Delaware WIC Shopping App lets you scan a barcode before checkout to confirm an item is approved.

The Cash Value Benefit for Fruits and Vegetables

Every participant receives a monthly Cash Value Benefit (CVB) for fresh fruits and vegetables. For the current benefit year, the CVB is $26 a month for children, $48 for pregnant or postpartum participants, and $52 for breastfeeding participants. It works at any authorized grocery store on fresh or bulk produce. Benefits do not roll over month to month, so use them before the end of each benefit period.

Other Approved Foods

Beyond produce, the food package includes whole grains such as whole wheat bread, brown rice, and tortillas; milk, cheese, and yogurt; eggs; peanut butter and dried beans; and infant formula and infant foods prescribed for babies on the program. Specific approved brands and package sizes can change with each update cycle, so check the current Authorized Food List or the Shopping App rather than relying on what you bought last month.

Farmers' Market Benefits

Delaware WIC participates in the Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), which gives eligible participants seasonal vouchers — separate from the monthly eWIC benefit — to buy fresh, locally grown produce at authorized farmers' markets each summer. Participants redeem FMNP vouchers through the SoliMarket Shopper mobile app: your clinic sets up your account at a June, July, or August appointment, and you'll get an email invitation to download the app and start shopping at participating markets.

Shopping Tips

Use the Delaware WIC Shopping App to scan barcodes at the store and confirm an item is approved before you reach the register. If something won't scan as expected, check the current Authorized Food List or call your local clinic — approved brands and sizes are updated periodically, and staff can also flag a missing item for review.
