Florida WIC is administered by the Florida Department of Health and delivered through county health department clinics in all 67 counties, from Miami-Dade to the Panhandle. The program has no enrollment cap and no waitlist — every applicant who qualifies is served.

Who WIC Serves in Florida

WIC is open to pregnant women, women up to six months after giving birth (or up to a year if breastfeeding), infants, and children up to their 5th birthday. Fathers, foster parents, grandparents, and other legal guardians can apply on behalf of an eligible child. U.S. citizenship is not required — you must live in Florida. To qualify, a household needs to meet income guidelines and show a nutrition-related risk, which a WIC nutritionist confirms at your certification appointment.

What Your Benefits Include

Approved participants receive monthly food benefits loaded onto a Florida WIC EBT card, which works like a debit card at authorized grocery stores statewide for items like milk, eggs, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, peanut butter, and infant formula. WIC also connects families to breastfeeding support through peer counselors and lactation consultants, nutrition education, and referrals to Medicaid, SNAP, and other services. The free Florida WIC Mobile App lets participants check benefits and appointments, scan UPC barcodes in the store to confirm an item is approved, and find nearby WIC-authorized stores.

Staying Enrolled

Recertification timing depends on your category: pregnant participants are certified through delivery, breastfeeding participants for up to a year postpartum, non-breastfeeding postpartum participants for six months, and children annually. Your local WIC office will notify you before your certification period ends — don't wait until the last week to schedule, especially at busy county clinics.
