Indiana WIC Approved Foods

Updated August 2026

Once you're approved for Indiana WIC, your benefits are loaded monthly onto a WIC card that works like a debit card at authorized stores. Here's what's covered, how to check whether a specific brand or item is approved, and how the cash-value benefit for fruits and vegetables works.

Approved WIC Foods in Indiana

Indiana WIC benefits are loaded monthly onto an eWIC card accepted at roughly 600 WIC-authorized grocery stores and pharmacies statewide. The specific foods and quantities you receive depend on your participant category and are prescribed at your certification appointment. Use the free INWIC app to scan barcodes in the store and instantly confirm whether an item is approved, or check the current Approved Foods list published by IDOH.

The Cash Value Benefit for Fruits and Vegetables

Every Indiana WIC participant receives a monthly Cash Value Benefit (CVB) loaded onto the eWIC card for fresh, frozen, or canned fruits and vegetables — $26 a month for children, $48 for pregnant or postpartum participants, and $52 for breastfeeding participants. Benefits do not roll over month to month, so use them before the end of each benefit period.

Indiana eFMNP: Farmers' Market Benefits

Indiana WIC participants can also receive a separate Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) benefit worth $30 per eligible individual — on top of your regular monthly eWIC benefits — for fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and cut herbs at participating farmers' markets and farm stands. Indiana moved this program to electronic benefits in 2023: participants use a mobile wallet app on a smartphone or tablet, or receive a printed QR code if they don't have a smart device. Benefits are issued starting June 1 each year and can be used through September 30 (or until funds run out), and each issued benefit is valid for 30 calendar days. Ask your local WIC clinic about eFMNP availability — many clinics set up directly at participating farmers' markets.

Shopping Tips for Indiana WIC

Use the INWIC app to scan barcodes at the store and instantly check whether a product is approved, view your benefit balance by food category, and get alerts before benefits expire. If an item won't scan as approved at checkout, check the current Approved Foods list or ask your local WIC clinic. You can also contact Indiana WIC at inwic@health.in.gov for assistance.
