How to Apply for WIC in Wyoming

Wyoming WIC doesn't have one statewide online application — the fastest way to get started is to contact the WIC office serving your county directly, or submit an online appointment request through the Wyoming WIC Participant Portal. Find your nearest clinic using the WIC Clinic Locator at health.wyo.gov, or call the state WIC office at 1-888-996-9378 (toll-free).

Step 1: Contact Your Local WIC Office

Call the WIC office serving your county to schedule your first appointment, or request an appointment online through the Wyoming WIC Participant Portal (the online request form doesn't work in Internet Explorer or some versions of Firefox). Some rural counties are served by outreach clinics that are only open a day or two each month, so it's worth calling ahead to confirm the next available date.

Step 2: Gather Your Documents

For each person applying, bring three types of documents:

• Identification — a driver's license, birth certificate, passport, Wyoming ID card, immunization record, or similar government or school ID
• Proof of Wyoming address — a utility bill, rent or mortgage receipt, government mail, or a written statement from an employer or landlord
• Proof of income — recent pay stubs or self-employment records. If your household already participates in Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF, bring that award letter instead of income paperwork

Step 3: Attend Your Certification Appointment

Each person applying for WIC must be physically present at the certification appointment, with a few exceptions your clinic can explain. A WIC health professional verifies your documents, checks height, weight, and hemoglobin (a quick finger-stick anemia screening), and reviews your nutrition and health history before providing personalized counseling. If you're approved, your eWIC card is loaded with your first month of benefits.

Recertification

Certification periods follow federal standards: pregnant participants are certified through delivery, breastfeeding participants for up to a year postpartum, non-breastfeeding postpartum participants for six months, infants are recertified at six months, and children ages one through four are recertified annually. Your local WIC office will notify you before your certification period ends — schedule early if you're served by a part-time outreach clinic.

Tribal WIC on the Wind River Reservation

Tribal members on the Wind River Indian Reservation can apply through the Eastern Shoshone Tribe WIC Program in Fort Washakie or the Northern Arapaho Tribe WIC program, instead of the state Wyoming WIC office serving their area.

Moving To or From Wyoming

If you're moving to Wyoming from another state, contact your local WIC office and bring the Verification of Certification (VOC) form from your previous state. If you're leaving Wyoming, ask your WIC office for a VOC form before you go so your new state can continue your benefits without starting over. Your Wyoming eWIC card only works at authorized vendors within Wyoming.
