Who WIC Serves in Wyoming

WIC is open to women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or who had a baby in the last six months, plus infants and children up to their 5th birthday. Once approved, benefits are loaded monthly onto an eWIC card that works like a debit card at authorized grocery stores statewide — the eWIC system automatically identifies approved items at checkout, so you don't need to tell a cashier you're using WIC. WIC also provides one-on-one nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support and equipment like breast pumps, and referrals to other services such as Medicaid and SNAP. Many participants use the free WIC Shopper app to check their balance, scan barcodes to confirm an item is approved, and manage appointments through the Wyoming WIC Participant Portal.

Staying Enrolled

Recertification timing follows federal guidelines: pregnant participants are certified through delivery, breastfeeding participants for up to a year postpartum, non-breastfeeding postpartum participants for six months, and children annually. Your local WIC office will notify you before your certification period ends — outreach clinics in rural counties may only be open a day or two a month, so don't wait until the last minute to schedule.
